If you have not encountered Hidden City (hiddencityphila.org), this is a good place to begin (post from 4/2016):
The Friends of Julian Abele Park are pleased to report the presence of two bike racks, located on the 22nd Street side of the Park.
We are not certain who our mysterious benefactor(s) is/are, but we are grateful that another project to improve our park has been achieved. May they see good use…especially this coming Summer.
More on that soon, so stay tuned….
The Friends of Julian Abele Park regret to announce that there will be no Farmer’s Market this 2016 season. Our vendor of the past two years, Highland Orchards, is not able to come. We have reached out to Farm to City and The Food Trust for options and have not been able to land any vendors. If we have any changes we will let you know.
For fans of Highland Orchards, don’t forget they are at Fitler Square Farmer’s Market on Saturdays (throughout the year) and staff a stand at Schuylkill River Park (end of Spruce Street entrance) on Wednesdays from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
We will be meeting at 7 PM at the SOSNA Office, 1901 Christian Street. We’ll have updates to event programming and general park news and maintenance. Please join us as we prepare for another Summer season.
There will be two groups of for kids to participate in. The first group will go off at 10:30am for children 3 years old and younger. The second group will go off at 11am for children 4 years old and over.
We hope you will join in the fun!
Hi- apologies to everyone for the late notice.
Our February 2016 meeting will be Tuesday February 23rd at 7 PM at the SOSNA office 1901 Christian Street. We will have up updates on Park Friends Network and event programming.
We will *also* be meeting for our regularly scheduled first-Tuesday- of the month meeting on Tuesday March 1st, also at the SOSNA office.
After hibernating for the last few months, the Friends of Julian Abele Park are resuming meeting for 2016. Unfortunately, we are *not* able to have our first-Tuesday-of-the-month regular meeting, as the President and Treasurer are out of town.
We have not picked a new date as yet, but will inform you when it is chosen. We will have an update as to event programming and general park news.
Thanks for your patience; we look forward to 2016 and hope that you can join us.
Tomorrow, Tuesday November 3rd is Friends of Julian Abele Park Meeting; 7 PM @ SOSNA Office, 1901 Christian Street. We’ll be discussing the Saturday November 14th “Love Your Park!” cleanup and bulb-planting. This will be our last meeting for 2015; hope you can make it.
